東京都は、脱炭素化に向けた実効性ある行動を加速させるため、気候危機行動ムーブメント「TIME TO ACT」を展開しています。

このたび、都知事主催「TIME TO ACTフォーラム2024～都市から世界へ呼びかける気候アクション～」を開催します。
都市の役割がかつてなく高まっている今、世界で知見を共有し、具体的な行動を呼びかけます。

TIME TO ACT FORUM 2024: Cities Calling for World Climate Action

October 24, 2024, 17:30–19:30 (Japan time)

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will be hosting the TIME TO ACT Forum 2024 –Cities Calling for World Climate Action, on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The Forum, which intends to send a message of decarbonization to the world, will be streamed live and archived on YouTube in English and Japanese.
TMG has been developing a global climate crisis action movement starting from Tokyo to accelerate effective action toward decarbonization under the slogan “TIME TO ACT.” As one of the world’s major metropolises and a large consumer of energy and resources, Tokyo has a special responsibility to tackle climate change and can drive effective action through its global connections.
The TIME TO ACT Forum, which has been held annually from 2021, aims to accelerate climate action through discussion with local government leaders, business representatives, and experts involved in decarbonization. Each Forum has had its own key theme —accelerating efforts toward Tokyo’s goal of halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (“Carbon Half”) in 2021, green hydrogen expansion in 2022, and energy decarbonization in cities in 2023. Tokyo itself seeks to achieve net-zero by 2050.
Importantly, the Forums have acted as a prelude to Tokyo’s participation in the Conference of the Parties (COP), hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
At this year’s COP29 in Azerbaijan, world leaders are expected to discuss updating their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike will be attending on-site, bringing insights and recommendations from the TIME TO ACT Forum 2024, and calling for the world's cities to join together in solidarity, deepen communication with nations and various non-state actors, and contribute to global greenhouse gas reductions.
